Erin Husmann is the founder of Open Hearts and Resilient Minds, LLC. She is an experienced meditator having practiced various forms of meditation for the past fifteen years. In February of 2022, Erin received her certification to teach mindfulness meditation after graduating from the Dharma Moon and Tibet House US 100 Hour Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training Program taught by David Nichtern, a senior teacher in the lineage of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. This tradition combines a contemporary, secular approach to meditation with the ancient practices and philosophies of Tibetan Buddhism.
Erin received her Bachelors of Social Work from Florida State University in 2012 and has spent more than a decade in service to others in roles such as dependency case management, child protective investigations, forensic interviewing, licensing support for foster and adoptive families, bartending at a senior living community, and supporting Veterans experiencing homelessness.
When she’s not practicing and teaching mindfulness meditation or supporting Iowa Veterans and their families, Erin can be found reading at a local brewery, scoping out wildlife from the Des Moines bike trails, painting abstract art, attending a local yoga class, or spending quality time with her cat, husband, and neighbors.
